Brooke Herzing is a ceramic artist and educator based in Pontiac, Michigan. She is the founder of Kasper and Clay. She earned her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2015 and completed graduate studies in ceramics at Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2023.
Her practice is rooted in material inquiry and process, with work spanning both functional and sculptural forms. Through repetition, surface, and construction, Herzing explores themes of domestic labor, care, and the body, often blurring the line between use and narrative. Clay functions as both a practical material and a conceptual framework within her work.
Her background in studio practice and arts education informs the philosophy behind Kasper and Clay. She emphasizes strong technical foundations, material literacy, and thoughtful problem-solving in her teaching, creating learning environments that support curiosity, experimentation, and sustained engagement with clay.

Tom Caycedo is a Michigan based maker & designer. Tom received a BFA in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design ‘19, and an MFA in Ceramics from Cranbrook Academy of Art ‘23. Through world building and object narrative, Tom is focused on dissecting thematic dualities in agnosticism & faith, order & chaos, ether & matter. His interest in philosophy and making are tightly bound as he also grapples to explore the concept of ‘object oriented ontology.’ By means of fabricating artifacts with intrinsic persona, Tom is able to imbue meaning through material context, formal symbols, companion objects, and expressive image making. He believes that a gradual unraveling of these manifestations allow for the true identity of the work to come to the forefront.
